First, Oriental martial arts culture has been influenced and developed by Indo and has re-created new physical culture proper for each country. 'Taekwondo culture exchange theory' is originated from Indo related with Buddhism. Gara, the origin of Oriental martial arts, is also from Indo. Gaya is the name of a region in Bihareul of Indo which Buddha walked through, and now its name is Bulta(Buddha) Gaya. Many Oriental martial arts culture of the Three States are rooted in Indo. This is the phenomenon that occurred with the transmission of Buddhism. For instance, from the Goguryeo mural, we can see the international martial arts games exchanged with Westerners. Martial arts physical culture exchange was already performed with Indo through the Silk Road or the sea routes during the Silla period in the period of the Three States. Baekje held regular exchange games of Ssireum with Japan. Bare hand martial arts for both mental and physical cultivation were performed as various sorts of international culture exchange games from Goryeo, Choseon, and up until today. Second, the transmission of Buddhism in Indo became a chance to generate new Oriental physical culture along with the foundation of Sorim-sa in China. 'Chinese tradition theory of Taekwondo' says that Chinese martial arts were introduced along with the induction of Zen Buddhism according to the Chinese origin theory by Choi Seok nam, Lee Won Gok, Hwang Gi, or Choi Hong Hui. The transmission of Buddhism started when Dharma of Indo propagated Buddhism to China and when Nam Gwon of China began martial arts exchange with okinawa. And in 2007 Taekwondo championship in China, a Chinese announcer talked about Chinese Taekwondo's cultural exchange of Taekwondo. It was intended to mention the superiority of Chinese martial arts culture, but it was also to distribute Chinese martial arts to Korea and Japan arranging the martial arts of Indo. As the martial arts exchange games of the three Oriental countries are being held, Chinese modern martial arts are being re-created as WeShe, the sport martial arts, based on researching into the success cases of sport martial arts in Japan and Korea. Chinese modern martial arts are also challenging to be adopted as an official event of the Asian Games and the Olympics through international sport exchange. Third, the cultural change of Oriental martial arts are evolving to new frame from mental to physical cultivation and with the induction of Western sport rules for winning and failure. In that aspect, 'Japanese cultural exchange of Taekwondo' is originated from Okinawa karate being Japanized. However, this is the phenomenon that occurred for the martial arts culture exchange between the East and the West. It is the result of making Oriental martial culture as sports inducing Western sports rules; that is, it is the outcome of cultural exchange between the East and the West. With its westernized sport rules, Japanese Judo was adopted as an official event in 1964 Tokyo Olympics. In Korea, Taekwondo was adopted as a demonstration sport in 1988 Seoul Olympics as a chance. And in China, WeSue was adopted as an official event in 1990 Beijing(Peking) Asian Games, and it result of exchange introducing the wrestling game rules and uniform from the West. The root of Japanese cultural exchange and martial arts has been developed through the martial arts exchange between Korea and China.
Fourth, with the introduction of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism via the silk Road and the sea routes, ancient Korea could see cultural advancement. 'Korean cultural exchange of Taekwondo' says that the martial arts started with cultural exchange of Korea. It is the Korean cultural exchange of Taekwondo' that assumes Taekwondo is the bare hand martial arts transmitted and developed from Subak, Gwonbeop(martial arts of the fist), and Taekgyeon as cultural exchange. And this is the theory of the 1950's till 1970's. Today's Taekwondo is originated from the historic tradition of Taekgyeon among the martial arts of the Three States quoting silla's Hwarang, Goguryeo‘s ancient tomb mural, and the Japanese period of Baekje, Goryeo’s Muinsubak, and Choseon's Gwonbeop as well as traditional historicity transmitted and acquired along with Taekgyeon's history and tradition. Even today, it is controversial in the academic circles of Taekwondo whether Taekgyeon and Taekwondo are the same event or net. Although the circles of Taekwondo have verified the validity of the opposite views internally through mutual discussion, there is almost no case that analyzes and evaluates the two parts closely. You can see the aspects of martial arts exchange between Taekwondo and Taekgyeon in 2011. Korea Martial Arts Forum(Nov 9, 2010, KOREA NATIONAL SPORTS UNIVERSITY)with the topic of "is Taekwondo Taekgyeon according to the correlational analysis?" explains the martial arts exchange theory of Taekwondo and Taekgyeon with the quotation or research by Hwang Gi and Choi Hong Hui. Choi Hong Hui verifies the martial arts exchange theory factually with the exchange theory factually with the exchange theory of Taekgyeon for Taekgyeon's foot techniques and with the exchange theory of karate for poomsae and training methods.
Lastly, We had cultural exchange with Indo already in the Silla period during the period of the Three States. Many of the cultures of the three Asian countries are rooted in Indo. The general culture exchange route for the three Asian countries is that martial arts were transmitted through China martial arts to Korea martial artsand Japan martial arts along with the propagation of buddhism. Goguryeo's mural also proves international exchange through the exchange with the West. However, within the cultural flow, Taekwondo culture is mixed with other influence and Korean traditional physical culture to realize internationalization with the conversion to sport Taekwondo with a new system. After taken as an official event of 2000 Sydney Olympics, it has become an international sport. Martial arts events for mental cultivation such as poomsae, demonstration, performance, or meditation are also newly being developed. As written above, it is thought that Taekwondo tradition theory is the share for mankind through cultural exchange of the East and the West with its socio-cultural roles.
